USC 2018

Description

  • May 2018

In May 2018, the team went to Manitoba to fly its brand new aircraft, an hexacopter, and execute a tricky mission. The mission consisted of two days of flying. The first task was to fly around a small building and identify several cues that would help solve a crime that occurred earlier. The UAV also had to drop a listening device on the ground at a precise location. The second task was to fly over the crime area and find objects left from the criminals.

The competition is over two phases, the first is a design paper explaining how the team will operate the mission and design its systems. The second is the mission demonstration.

The team finished fourth overall but won the design paper.

My role at the competition was payload operator.
